Ride Google Street View on a smart trainer (Chrome)

You can ride any Street View road on Earth from a smart trainer. Type two places, or tap start and finish on the map. Pedal harder, the road moves faster.

That is VirtualRide. A Chrome web app. $9/month. No install, no game world, no filmed catalog of someone else’s Mallorca holiday.

How it works

1. Open virtualride.app in Chrome on a Mac, Windows PC, or Android phone.
2. Connect a Wahoo KICKR or any Bluetooth smart trainer.
3. Pick a road: a famous climb, your commute, a sportive you have next month, the street you grew up on.
4. Ride. Street View follows your speed.

Why Street View instead of Zwift or Rouvy

Zwift is a game world (Watopia). Fun for racing. Not your actual road.

Rouvy and FulGaz are filmed real-world routes. After April 2026 they sit inside the Zwift family, and you are limited to what someone filmed.

Street View is whatever Google has driven. Coverage is not everywhere (remote roads may have none) and it is not 4K video. In cities it can jump. On a mountain pass or a quiet street it is the closest thing to “I am on that road.”

What you need

• Chrome. Safari, Firefox, and Edge cannot talk to the trainer (Web Bluetooth).
• A computer, or Android with Chrome. iPhone and iPad Safari will not connect a trainer. Apple does not allow it. Use a laptop.
• A Bluetooth smart trainer. Wahoo KICKR is the one we call out. Other BLE trainers work.
